With all the things going on in the world we can get negative and give up easy. I think we should take it day by day and attempt to make every moment matter. Since I started using my time productively, I’m feeling more free and well not sad.
One small thing at a time. I’m attacking big tasks and breaking them up in parts, at the end of a day, completing those parts does put a smile on my face. The small things makes the biggest changes in the world. Think of it this way, the world is made up of small processes and it’s those processes that makes everything.
If you don’t know what stoicism is, I suggest reading up on it. There are enormous amounts of information available. As always, here are some stoic quotes:
“Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be One.”
Marcus Aurelius
“If it is not right, do not do it, if it is not true, do not say it.”
Marcus Aurelius
“Be tolerant with others and strict with yourself.”
Marcus Aurelius
“How does it help…to make troubles heavier by bemoaning them?”
Seneca
“How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?”
Epictetus
“Curb your desire—don’t set your heart on so many things and you will get what you need.”
Epictetus
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
Viktor Frankl
“Learn to be indifferent to what makes no difference.”
Marcus Aurelius
“Make the mind tougher by exposing it to adversity.”
Robert Greene
“Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future too.”
Marcus Aurelius
“No great thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer that there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.”
Epictetus
“Uncertainty is an uncomfortable position. But certainty is an absurd one.”
Voltaire
“Difficulty is what wakes up the genius.”
Nassim Nicholas Taleb
I leave you with that, you are probably tired of reading. I hope this makes you think about a few things and brightens your day a little.
