Today I realized again that we struggle with some aspects of our humanity. We pay other people so that we can live on this earth. Literally, I mean, you have to pay taxes on your property, on the things you buy and then you are taxed again on your income and hard work. Sure this is a small amount, but, for some people and companies, it’s vast amounts causing them to fail. You can claim some of it back, but most of us don’t. It’s still a effective amount. So why do we need to pay taxes?
You might think so that you can get a public service like medical, transport, protection etc. To be honest, most of these services you have to pay yourself these days. Did you know you are obligated to pay taxes in interest you earn and declare it as income if it’s over a certain amount? It does not work the other way around. The truth is, we pay for other people to survive and most to be wealthy. The good news is, there are better systems. The bad news, there aren’t better people, with the exception of the few. People steal, they lie, they kill, they are incompetent, they reproduce and never think of the future. My question today to you is: How can we make this better? Can we change it? Are you one of the exceptional few?
I recommend you do some reading on the Venus Project and if you are also a South African citizen, check out the Ubuntu Party the next time you vote.
